Discovering Mark Leach's work is what inspired me try pastels again.
A little respite from oils, I found some old pastels and began to play with colour.
While finding my around the process of painting oils, I began to push the paint into shapes and textures hoping to create some sense of balance.
When finished the painting had a familiarity about it but it took a couple of months before I realized that it reminded me of the colours and textures of
12" x 12" oil on canvas

I went and splurged on oil paints yesterday and did a quick study of my son playing with my daughter's dog "Brutis"
This is the time of year when things get busy and my mind is distracted with things other than art.
I always love a good art book for Christmas, this lovely book was waiting for me when I got home from work today. Alfred Currier
This is the second painting that I entered in the Peace & Conflict show at the Coast Collective. It is my interpretation of one of the statues (Castor or Pollux I'm not sure which) in the Piazza del Campidoglio on Capitoline Hill in Rome.
This was one of my entries for the "Peace & Conflict" show at the Coast Collective . It starts tomorrow and runs until November 15.
